Job Title: Energy Engineer Commissioning Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Energy Engineer Commissioning Specialist to join our team at Galloway & Company, Inc. This role will be responsible for ensuring the functionality, safety, and compliance of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing systems in commercial and industrial settings.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Energy Modeling: Utilize advanced energy modeling software to analyze and optimize energy usage in buildings, identifying opportunities for energy efficiency improvements.
  • Commissioning: Execute comprehensive commissioning activities related to MEP systems, ensuring their functionality, safety, and compliance.
  • Project Coordination: Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors to coordinate commissioning activities and resolve technical issues efficiently.
  • Documentation: Prepare detailed commissioning reports, including test procedures, equipment performance, and system deficiencies, with clear recommendations for improvement.
  • Client Communication: Establish strong relationships with clients, providing technical expertise and guidance throughout the commissioning process.
  • Quality Assurance: Maintain a commitment to quality control and quality assurance, ensuring projects meet industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Energy Efficiency and Sustainability: Implement energy-efficient strategies and sustainable practices in HVAC design to reduce the environmental impact of buildings.
  • Scope of Work: Develop and manage the scope of work for energy efficiency projects, including bid management and implementation.
  • Training: Provide training to client personnel or staff on energy efficiency practices and strategies.
  • Troubleshooting: Assist clients in troubleshooting system operational issues that impact energy efficiency.
  • Analyzing HVAC Systems: Experience in analyzing the operation of HVAC systems and controls to identify and implement no-cost and low-cost actions that increase energy efficiency.
  • Energy Audits: Conduct ASHRAE Level 1, 2, and 3 energy audits.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Energy Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of four years of energy-focused experience or 10 years in commissioning-focused role.
  • Strong knowledge of building codes and regulations.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
  • Client-facing role, with the ability to establish relationships with clients and lead technical discussions.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in commissioning HVAC systems and MEP systems in commercial or industrial settings with commissioning certification(s) such as CCP, BECxP, CxA+BE, etc.
  • Understanding of building MEP systems, their operational characteristics, and potential upgrades to improve building energy performance.
  • Proficiency in energy modeling software (e.g., EnergyPlus, IES VE, eQUEST, Revit) with the Building Energy Modeling Professional (BEMP) certification or equivalent.
