Route Service Specialist

As a Route Service Specialist with Healthcare Linen Services Group, you will play a vital role in supporting the Route Managers and RSRs in the administration of the service department's activities. This position requires a self-motivated individual who can work independently and maintain good working relationships with our customer base. You will be responsible for driving a truck or van with a capacity of less than 26,000 GVW, primarily to deliver or pick up merchandise within a specified area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Learn all routes as assigned by the route manager and fill in as needed during vacations, holidays, and absences.
- Deliver any customer call-in specials as directed.
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of the company's products, services, prices, policies, and procedures.
- Obtain signature for delivery verification for each delivery.
While Running a Route:
- Ensure all deliveries are complete and accurate.
- Download all handhelds; invoices and work orders must be completed accurately and turned in daily.
- Be responsible for company money, inventory, delivery vehicle, phone, handheld, and equipment used in conducting daily route activities.
- Maintain customer goodwill by demonstrating an interest in, devoting time to, and practicing courtesy toward all customers.
Delivery Area at all Customer Accounts:
- Maintain the delivery area in a neat and orderly fashion.
- Uniforms will be hung in order.
- Hanger racks and service request boards will be placed where needed and replaced as needed.
Personal Appearance:
- Company uniforms are required to be clean and worn on a daily basis.
- Stay properly groomed. Beards must be trimmed and/or clean shaven.
Driving Habits/Truck Maintenance:
- Keep the truck clean inside and out.
- Maintain a valid driver's license and a good driving record.
- Maintain and update DOT certification as needed.
- Have the proper attitude toward operation of company vehicles.
- Be courteous toward other drivers at all times.
- No cell phone use while driving.
Qualifications:
- Customer Oriented - Ability to take care of the customers' needs while following company procedures.
- Safety Awareness - Ability to identify and correct conditions that affect employee safety.
- Communication, Oral - Ability to communicate effectively with others using the spoken word.
- Time Management - Ability to utilize the available time to organize and complete work within given deadlines.
Requirements:
- High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED).
- Six months to one year related experience.
- General knowledge of handheld computers.
- DOT Certification.
- Clear Driving Record, Good Attendance, Must get along with fellow employees.
