Job Description

Nina May, a family-owned restaurant in Shaw and Chevy Chase, is seeking an experienced Sous Chef to lead our kitchen operations. As a key member of our culinary team, you will oversee the planning, organization, and training necessary to achieve stated objectives in sales, costs, employee retention, guest service, food quality, cleanliness, and sanitation.

We offer a competitive salary of $75,000 per year, along with career progression opportunities and professional development programs. You will work closely with our award-winning Executive Chef, Colin McClimans, who was named Zagat's 30 under 30 in 2015 for his work in the industry.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Previous management experience in a professional kitchen
  • Excellent technical cooking skills and strong attention to detail
  • Knowledge of seasonal produce and menu development
  • Team-oriented leadership skills with a focus on staff development and retention

Skills & Requirements:

  • Manage all aspects of opening kitchen operations
  • Exceed DOH standards of sanitation
  • Supervise kitchen staff and manage staff training
  • Maintain all inventory and manage ordering
  • Oversee kitchen prep and ensure accuracy and quality of all menu items
