Job Summary

This position is assigned to various areas within the Plant, with the primary responsibility of maintaining clean and sanitary machinery, floor areas, miscellaneous equipment, and belts. The Sanitation Laborer will perform tasks that include, but are not limited to:

  • Shoveling and sweeping for extended periods
  • Lifting and emptying waste product
  • Scrubbing walls, ceilings, and equipment
  • Using cleaning chemicals, ladders, high-pressure guns, air hoses, and hot water units in a safe manner

The Sanitation Laborer will also be required to perform tasks not directly related to sanitation under the direction of shift supervision and sanitation lead. This position will adhere to all safety and GMP regulations, procedures, and practices set by the Company and Sanitation Department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain a safe work environment at all times
  • Clean equipment using established procedures and provided tools
  • Clean floors and maintain good housekeeping in the area
  • Mix and use cleaning chemicals according to established procedures
  • Report hazardous conditions and adhere to all company rules, policies, and/or procedures concerning work, GMP's, and safety
Requirements
  • Thorough knowledge of cleaning agents, their uses, mixtures, hazards, and first aid procedures
  • Understanding of various chemicals associated with the Hazardous Chemical Program
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Manual dexterity and ability to safely use cleaning equipment
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to work in adverse conditions (i.e., extreme cold and heat, extreme wet, within closed surroundings)
