Job Title: Production Superintendent

The Production Superintendent is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the overall operations of the assigned department. This position ensures accurate, effective, and efficient performance, while maintaining a strong focus on safety procedures, sanitation requirements, and standard operating procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Departmental Goals: Defines, communicates, and delivers departmental goals that align with Plant and Operations objectives, including production rates, budgets, reducing spill loss percentages, and improving labor productivity.
  • Knowledge and Compliance: Maintains knowledge of potato processing, SQF standards, FSMA regulations, and preventative controls, ensuring compliance with third-party audits, regulatory agencies, and company reports.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Oversees the effective cleaning and maintenance of equipment used in operations, ensuring optimal performance and minimizing downtime.
  • Safety and Training: Emphasizes safety training and safe actions, ensuring a safe work environment and promoting a culture of accountability.
  • Policy Enforcement: Recommends, implements, and enforces company policies and procedures, working in partnership with Human Resources.
  • Productivity and Quality: Develops action plans, measures and analyzes results, initiates corrective actions, and minimizes the impact of variances, while promoting a culture of high performance and accountability.
  • Team Development: Develops high-performing work teams within the department through hands-on coaching, training, and engaging team members through ongoing communications of factory changes and performance goal attainment.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Coordinates and communicates frequently with the Quality Department to ensure that products meet the highest quality standards possible.
  • Process Improvement: Proactively reviews established processes, identifies improvement opportunities, and makes recommendations to drive efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Staffing and Planning: Coordinates with planning and budgeting by providing necessary data and expert knowledge in areas of responsibility, ensuring adequate resources are allocated to achieve departmental objectives.
  • Employee Performance: Drives employee performance by giving clear directions and expectations, providing meaningful feedback to aid performance, and evaluating performance and activity of team members.

Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Education: A bachelor's degree in business, science, engineering, or a related area from an accredited college/university.
  • Experience: A minimum of 3 years' experience in food manufacturing and leadership, or a minimum of 7 years' experience in a high-speed manufacturing environment.
  • Language Skills: Exhibits effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Computer Skills: Proficient in using Microsoft applications Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
