We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Environmental Outreach Specialist to join our team at the University of Washington. As a key member of the Washington State Climate Office, you will play a critical role in communicating climate science and its impacts to diverse audiences.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement effective communication strategies to engage with stakeholders, including government agencies, non-profit organizations, and community groups.
- Analyze and interpret climate data to inform decision-making and policy development.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and disseminate climate-related reports, publications, and educational materials.
- Manage and maintain the office's social media presence, ensuring timely and accurate information is shared with the public.
- Provide technical assistance to external partners and collaborators on climate-related projects.
- Masters degree in meteorology, climate science, or a related field with one year of experience.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to engage with diverse audiences.
- Experience analyzing and interpreting data, with a focus on climate science.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Attention to detail and insistence on technical accuracy.
- Familiarity with Washington state's climate and climate-related resources.
- Experience working in WordPress and managing professional social media accounts.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently, with a strong ability to collaborate with colleagues.
