Position Overview

Pediatric Specialists of Virginia is seeking a skilled part-time Registered Dietitian to support our Pulmonary Medicine Clinic. This role encompasses 20 hours of work per week.

The Registered Dietitian will deliver safe and effective therapeutic nutritional care, utilizing a comprehensive and systematic approach to address the needs of patients and their families. This professional will collaborate with other clinical disciplines to enhance patient outcomes and serve as a vital resource for physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals, ensuring optimal nutritional care and education for patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage databases, school forms, and patient visits independently of medical appointments as needed.
  • Participate in Annual Training/Conference travel requirements.
  • Conduct comprehensive nutrition assessments by analyzing and interpreting data from various sources.
  • Develop individualized nutrition care plans based on assessment findings, identifying trends in patient populations to implement best practices.
  • Coordinate nutrition care plans with physicians and other healthcare providers, integrating them into the comprehensive care plan for patients.
  • Advocate for patient rights from the family/patient perspective and provide guidance to resolve issues.
  • Document nutrition care plans in medical records, including assessments, diagnoses, implementation plans, and progress towards goals, assisting team members with related documentation.
  • Assess the educational needs of patients and families, providing appropriate nutrition education and counseling.
  • Develop and revise standards for patient populations, employing a multidisciplinary approach and best practices.
  • Contribute to the planning and development of nutrition-related policies, procedures, and goals.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition or a related field.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in a healthcare environment.
  • Registered Dietitian credential from the Commission on Dietetic Registration for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • All employees must successfully complete an employment TB, drug, and physical examination.
Desired Qualifications
  • Three (3) years of experience in a pediatric medical group or healthcare setting.
  • CSP certification is preferred.
  • Prior experience with the EPIC System.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
