Inova Health System is seeking a dedicated Organ Transplant Nutrition Specialist to enhance our inpatient and outpatient services for heart and lung transplant patients. This position operates on a PRN basis, providing coverage during periods of increased demand and staff absence.

Key Responsibilities:
- Formulates, evaluates, and updates organ-specific nutritional assessment protocols annually or as necessary to align with best practices and regulatory standards.
- Conducts comprehensive clinical, educational, and behavioral evaluations tailored to organ transplant suitability, including assessments of frailty and functionality. Designs individualized medical nutrition therapy plans encompassing assessment, guidance, and evaluation of outcomes.
- Offers insights on both pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment options.
- Acts as a nutrition expert within the multidisciplinary transplant team.
- Participates in departmental, hospital, and system-wide educational initiatives related to transplant nutrition.
- Creates and leads patient education sessions and support groups.
- Implements and oversees quality assessment and improvement projects.
- Represents the transplant nutrition assessment and education program during regulatory evaluations as necessary.
- Performs additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Work Schedule: PRN
- Work Location: Inova Fairfax Medical Campus
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in food and nutrition or dietetics
- Professional Experience: Minimum of 4 years in solid organ transplant nutrition
- Certifications: Certified Clinical Transplant Dietitian (NATCO certification required within 12 months of employment); Registered Dietitian
