About the Role
Inova Fairfax Medical Campus is in search of a Senior Respiratory Care Specialist to enhance our Pulmonary Rehabilitation team. This position entails full-time hours (40 hours per week) with a schedule from Monday to Friday, commencing at 7:30 AM. - Graduation from an accredited CoARC (The Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care) respiratory care program.
- A minimum of two years' experience in a critical care setting.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification along with one of the following: ACLS, PALS, or NRP.
- At least one additional qualification from the following:
- Additional Certification (ACLS, PALS, or NRP)
- Advanced Credential (ACCS, AEC, NPS, RPFT, CPFT, or SDS)
- Relevant bachelor's degree
- Specialized certification (AEC, COPD, SCC, etc.) pertinent to departmental operations
- Basic Life Support certification from AHA upon hire.
- Licensed as a Respiratory Therapist in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
- Engagement in two quality/process improvement initiatives utilizing Lean Methodology (A3). Participation in committees and serving as a preceptor. Membership in professional organizations.
- Cross-trained and proficient in various departmental functions (e.g., clinical skills, critical thinking, preceptor and relief charge skills, quality assurance skills).
- Formulates exercise prescriptions and risk factor modifications by considering comorbidities and musculoskeletal conditions, adhering to established program standards and guidelines.
- Creates Individual Treatment Plans through comprehensive physical assessments and testing, incorporating exercise and strength training programs, patient education, and behavioral health support tailored to each patient for optimal outcomes.
- Delivers multimodal patient education based on individualized treatment plans.
- Demonstrates correct instruction and techniques for executing appropriate exercise and strength training to ensure patient safety and adherence to exercise prescriptions.
- Promptly communicates significant changes in patient clinical status to relevant healthcare team members and assists with emergency care as per departmental protocols.
- Conducts patient assessments for disease-specific risk factors and clinical needs that may influence the Individual Treatment Plan.
- Provides validation of clinical decisions for fellow team members.
- Participates in clinical outcomes and quality improvement initiatives.
- Utilizes established standards, guidelines, and pathways for effective care delivery.
- Facilitates communication for care delivery involving direct patient and family interactions, technology, and collaboration with other healthcare team members.
