Akron Children's Hospital is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Patient Service Representative to join our team. As a Patient Service Representative, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient service and support to our patients and families.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide Excellent Patient Service: Develop and maintain positive relationships with patients and families by greeting and responding to their needs in a prompt and caring manner.
- Manage Front Desk Operations: Perform point-of-service activities, including visit preparation, co-pay collection, and patient tracking, as assigned by the supervisor.
- Schedule Patient Visits: Utilize hospital procedures and resources to schedule patient visits or diagnostic testing.
- Manage Third-Party Payors: Collect co-pays and manage third-party payors in accordance with hospital policies.
- Perform Administrative Tasks: Complete routine tasks, such as faxing, copying, filing, and mailings, as well as promptly return phone calls and take and distribute messages.
- Maintain a Clean and Organized Workspace: Ensure the front desk area and waiting room are clean and organized at all times.
- Participate in Cross-Coverage Efforts: Participate in clerical and administrative cross-coverage efforts as needed.
- Ensure HIPAA Compliance: Ensure that all patient information is handled in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Requirements
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience: Relevant experience in a general office setting or healthcare environment preferred.
- Technical Skills: Experience with computerized scheduling systems and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) required.
- Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and staff members.
- Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and perform basic math skills to process insurance co-payments.
Working Conditions
This is a full-time position working Monday through Fridays with rotating Saturdays. The ideal candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced environment and provide exceptional patient service in a hospital setting.
