Key Responsibilities:

  • Administers comprehensive nursing care to patients, ensuring adherence to established nursing protocols.
  • Prepares medical equipment and assists healthcare providers during patient examinations and treatments.
  • Monitors, documents, and communicates patient conditions and responses to medications or treatments to the healthcare team.
  • Manages appointment scheduling, prioritizing urgent cases to maintain an efficient patient flow.
  • Welcomes patients, gathers detailed medical histories, and records vital signs. Prepares patients for physical assessments and instructs them on sample collection procedures.
  • May perform specific tasks in accordance with licensure and training, including vital sign assessments, initial patient evaluations, and coordination of patient transfers.
  • Handles patient testing arrangements and admissions as necessary.
  • Maintains knowledge of coding systems and managed care practices.
  • Responds to phone inquiries and processes prescription refills as directed by healthcare providers.
  • Educates patients and their families about medications and treatments, documenting the information appropriately.
  • Develops and updates patient care plans, ensuring accurate documentation of tests and examination results.
  • Maintains patient records and files in compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.
  • Ensures examination rooms are prepared and stocked appropriately.
  • Participates in required meetings and professional development activities to maintain licensure.
  • Adheres to confidentiality standards and follows established healthcare policies and procedures.
  • Utilizes effective communication skills to convey information clearly and positively.
  • Implements responsibilities in alignment with the organization's mission and ethical standards.

Qualifications:

Education and Skills:

  • Graduation from an accredited practical nursing or vocational nursing program.

Experience:

  • Prior experience in a medical office setting is preferred.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Current state nursing license.
  • Valid BLS certification from an accredited organization.
