Overview

Position Summary:

The Equipment Operator/Stevedore is tasked with the operation of heavy machinery and overseeing stevedoring functions within the port facility, ensuring the efficient and safe movement of materials.

Key Responsibilities:

Operate unloaders and other machinery to maintain a steady supply of materials for operations

Global Responsibilities:

Consistent attendance and physical presence at work are vital for this role Additional responsibilities may be assigned as necessary to fulfill business requirements

Qualifications:

Education and Certifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent is mandatory Prior experience as an Equipment Operator, particularly in Quarry operations, is advantageous

Experience:

A minimum of two years operating heavy equipment is preferred

Skills and Abilities:

Proficient in operating various types of heavy machinery safely and responsibly

Working Environment:

Fast-paced operational setting Exposure to moving mechanical components, vehicles, heavy construction machinery, and outdoor weather conditions Moderate to high noise levels requiring personal hearing protection at times Ability to maintain professionalism and composure in stressful situations

Physical Requirements:

Regularly required to communicate verbally; frequently required to stand, walk, use hands for manipulation, and reach with arms Occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, and perform stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling tasks Must navigate job sites with uneven and unpaved surfaces Specific vision capabilities needed include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment Frequent bending to collect samples from stockpiles or ground Ability to operate controls on various equipment Flexibility to work extended hours as needed Must maneuver effectively in and around ports, yards, and job sites Capability to lift and carry up to 55 pounds regularly
