Position: Overhead Transmission Heavy Equipment Operator

As an Overhead Transmission Heavy Equipment Operator, you will be responsible for operating a variety of machinery, including cranes, boom trucks, knuckle booms, and bulldozers, essential for crane operations, wire tensioning, and pulling tasks. This role requires a willingness to travel as part of your job responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate small motorized equipment, including chain saws, jackhammers, hydraulic tools, and hand tools.
  • Work safely around hazardous equipment and energized parts.
  • Adhere to OSHA and company safety protocols.
  • Navigate through traffic and may require traffic flagging training.
  • Manage exposure to excessive noise from various machinery.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Proficient in operating various tools required for the job.
  • Ability to endure an 8 to 10-hour workday.
  • Maintain focus during potentially dangerous tasks.

Education & Experience:

  • NCCCO Certification is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Experience operating backhoes, trenchers, excavators, skid steers, bulldozers, and other relevant equipment.

Pre-Screening:

  • Candidates may be required to complete a pre-employment drug screening, background check, and/or MVR check upon receiving an offer.

Licenses & Certifications:

  • CDL is preferred.
  • A valid Driver's License is required.

Travel Requirements:

  • Must be open to traveling and working away from home.

Physical Requirements:

  • OCCASIONAL (up to 33%): Sitting, Kneeling, Crawling
  • FREQUENT (up to 66%): Stooping, Squatting, Body Twisting, Manual Dexterity, Reading, Climbing Ladders, Climbing On/Off Truck, Climbing Poles, Gripping, and Climbing Stairs
  • CONTINUOUS (up to 100%): Standing, Walking, Sense of Touch, Speaking Clearly, Seeing Distant, Seeing, Reaching, Range of Motion, Hearing-Speech Range, Depth Perception, Color Vision, Lifting, Carrying, Pushing, Pulling, Lifting Over 10 lbs. to 50 lbs., Balancing, Lifting Up to 10 lbs., and Lifting Up to 50 lbs.

Safety Considerations:

Given the nature of the industry, employees must possess adequate eyesight for distance judgment and coordination of equipment, maintain focus for extended periods, endure various weather conditions, and wear necessary personal protective equipment. Effective communication and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions are essential.
