Position Summary:

The Equipment Operator/Stevedore will play a crucial role in managing heavy machinery and stevedoring tasks within the port environment, ensuring the smooth and safe movement of materials.

Qualifications:

Education and Certifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Previous experience as an Equipment Operator, particularly in quarry operations, is preferred.

Experience:

  • A minimum of two years of experience operating heavy equipment is preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficient in operating various types of heavy machinery safely and responsibly.

Working Conditions:

  • Work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts, vehicles, heavy construction equipment, and outdoor weather conditions.
  • Noise levels may vary, often requiring personal hearing protection at job sites.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and composure in stressful situations.

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly required to communicate verbally and audibly; frequently required to stand, walk, and use hands for various tasks.
  • Occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, and perform actions such as stooping or kneeling.
  • Must navigate uneven and unpaved ground at job sites.
  • Specific vision capabilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must frequently bend to collect samples from stockpiles or the ground.
  • Ability to operate controls on various equipment effectively.
  • Flexibility to work long hours as needed.
  • Capability to maneuver within ports, yards, and job sites as required.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 55 pounds regularly.
