Job Summary

The Senior Grant and Financial Services Accountant plays a crucial role in the financial management of CARTI's programs and grants. This position is responsible for monitoring program and grant budgets, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Grant Management: Assist with the management of all grants, including preparing draws, supporting documentation, and ensuring compliance with federal regulations.
  2. Financial Reporting: Prepare and review financial reports for internal and external users, including grant billing invoices and financial statements.
  3. Grant Monitoring and Compliance: Review account balances, assist with grant monitoring, and ensure compliance with federal regulations.
  4. External Audit: Assist with the external audit process.
  5. Financial Analysis: Prepare trial balance account reviews, account reconciliations, and report on findings to the Controller.
  6. Financial Deposits: Prepare deposits, scan into bank, and provide supporting documentation to the staff accountant for recording in the general ledger.
  7. Revenue Subsystem Closure: Close revenue subsystems for all support services, research, and foundation monthly, including running reports and preparing journal entries to record revenue in the general ledger system.
Requirements
  1. Education: Bachelor's or higher degree in Accounting or Finance.
  2. Experience: 5 years of accounting experience with grant experience, required. 2 years public accounting experience, preferred.
  3. Skills: Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and experience working with complex spreadsheets and pivot tables.
  4. Abilities: Strong analytical and accounting skills, ability to meet assigned deadlines, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies.
