About the Role

Piedmont is seeking a highly skilled Behavioral Health Inpatient Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Behavioral Health department, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in Diagnosing and Treating Behavioral Health Issues

Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to assist physicians in diagnosing behavioral health problems and prescribing necessary treatment and services for quality patient care. Record normal and abnormal data, coordinate interviews, and conduct research as needed.

Provide Psychiatric Health Services

Provide psychiatric health services, education, counseling, and emotional support to patients. Issue medication prescriptions in accordance with treatment guidelines, order laboratory tests, interpret and explain test results to patients, and provide patient education regarding medications, risks, benefits, and reasonable outcome expectations.

Communicate Effectively with Patients and Families

Communicate with patients and engage in follow-up as necessary. Take patient histories, communicate with family and support individuals for patients, and record the data in the patient's record. Write progress notes and summaries noting pertinent positive and negative findings, obtain psycho-social history relevant to patient care, and assume responsibility for developing therapeutic relationships with patients.

Monitor Patient Progress and Report to Supervising Physician

Monitor progress of patients, report progress to supervising physicians, and maintain records of each patient's progress. Consult with supervising physicians when patient progress does not meet anticipated and/or predetermined criteria.

Requirements
  • Minimum 2 Years of Experience in Behavioral Health Setting
  • Graduate from an Accredited School of Nursing with Current Georgia License for Advanced Practice Nursing and a Master's Degree in Nursing
  • Or Graduate of an Accredited Physician Assistant Program with Current License for the Georgia State Composite Board and Specialty in Behavioral Health
  • Licensed Physician Assistant in the State of Georgia or Licensed for Advanced Practice Nursing (ACNP/FNP)
  • Updated NCCPA Certification for PAs and BLS and ACLS Required
