Position Overview
The Medical College of Georgia's Immunology Center at Augusta University is seeking accomplished immunologists for a tenure-track role at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level. We welcome applications from individuals specializing in various domains of immunology, particularly in mucosal immunity, autoimmunity, tumor immunology, and infectious diseases. Research interests may encompass cancer immunology, autoimmune disorders, vascular immunology, and leukemia/lymphoma studies. Candidates focusing on T cell biology, checkpoint inhibitors, engineered immune cells, antigen presentation, dendritic cell biology, antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity, Fc receptors, complement, and monocyte/macrophage biology are particularly encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate will possess active funding equivalent to at least two R01 grants, valid until at least 2025.
Key Responsibilities
- Funding: 75%
Maintain continuous National Institutes of Health (NIH) funding. - Teaching: 10%
Instruct graduate students and postdoctoral fellows, with potential involvement in advanced Immunology courses. - Service: 10%
Engage in committees at IMMCG & AU. - Other Duties: 5%
Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the Director.
Essential Qualifications
Applicants must hold a Ph.D., MD, or a combined Ph.D./MD from an accredited institution.
Assistant Professor: Early-career faculty with relevant postgraduate training.
Associate Professor: Mid-career faculty with a minimum of five years at the Assistant Professor level or equivalent experience.
Professor: Senior faculty with at least five years at the Associate Professor level or comparable experience.
All candidates must meet the employment qualifications set forth by USG institutions, including:
- Compliance with Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) accreditation standards;
- Demonstrated teaching effectiveness;
- Evidence of scholarly activity and capability in assigned duties;
- Successful prior experience (waived for new entrants to academia meeting other criteria); and,
- Desirable personal attributes assessed through interviews, biographical data, and references.
Compensation and Benefits
This position operates on a fiscal year basis and is full-time (1.0 FTE).
Compensation is commensurate with qualifications, experience, and achievements, subject to funding availability.
Comprehensive benefits include medical, dental, vision, 13 paid holidays, vacation and sick leave, generous retirement plans, tuition waiver, wellness programs, and more.
Full-time employees with over six months of service may qualify for the Tuition Assistance Program.
Rank and salary are determined at the time of hire based on various factors, including experience, education, credentials, and market data.

Institutional Overview
The Medical College of Georgia is among the largest medical schools in the nation, with a class size of 260 students.
