Respiratory Therapist

The Respiratory Therapist plays a vital role in delivering high-quality patient-centered respiratory care. As a key member of the patient care team, this individual will perform diagnostic tests, administer respiratory therapies, and monitor patients receiving invasive and noninvasive mechanical ventilation.
Responsibilities- Evaluate the respiratory needs of patients and develop individualized respiratory care plans.
- Administer oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy as prescribed by physicians.
- Assist with placement of artificial airways and initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilation.
- Monitor patients for therapeutic response and notify providers of any unintended responses.
- Transport ventilator-dependent patients and respond to emergent patient situations.
- Current Florida Registered Respiratory Therapist licensure.
- American Heart Association BLS health care provider certification, with ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications within six months of hire.
- Graduate of a Respiratory Care program accredited by the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC).
- Frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, and moving equipment.
- Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Customer service abilities, including effective listening skills.
