Position Summary:

The Boiler Technician will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of various types of boilers, including condensing, non-condensing, water tube, fire tube, and pulse type systems. This role requires a strong understanding of heating systems and associated burner/control systems to effectively support our clientele.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct testing and commissioning of both new and existing boiler installations.
  • Troubleshoot, service, repair, retrofit, and provide recommendations to restore boilers, burners, and controls to optimal working condition.
  • Diagnose and repair a variety of boiler types, ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.
  • Perform internal and external inspections of boilers and associated controls to assess functionality and longevity.
  • Repair or replace components such as refractory, gaskets, and controls as necessary.
  • Evaluate boiler room systems, gather data, and assist in problem-solving efforts.
  • Utilize combustion analysis tools to adjust fire control systems to meet design specifications.
  • Retrofit existing boiler control systems to enhance performance.
  • Carry out routine and annual inspections, including cleaning of boiler systems.
  • Schedule preventive maintenance and respond to service requests for assigned contracts.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Participate in on-call service rotation as required.
  • Support fellow technicians as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

A high school diploma or GED is required. The ideal candidate will have 2 to 5 years of experience in troubleshooting and servicing boilers across various commercial and industrial applications. Familiarity with boiler fire control systems and a comprehensive understanding of boiler safety and operation is essential. Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills are necessary for effective teamwork and client relations. A valid driver's license is required, along with the ability to meet MVR standards for operating company vehicles. Availability for overtime, on-call duties, and weekend work is expected.

Language Proficiency:

Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.

Mathematical Skills:

Basic math skills are required, including the ability to perform operations using American currency and measurements.

Reasoning Ability:

The ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed instructions and address problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations is necessary.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

A valid driver's license is mandatory.

Physical Demands:

The role requires the ability to climb ladders, lift and carry weights of 50 pounds or more, distinguish colors for electrical tasks, and work in confined spaces. Employees may encounter seasonal temperature extremes and must be capable of working in tight or cramped environments. Exposure to dust, dirt, allergens, refrigerants, and other potentially hazardous conditions is common.

Work Environment:

The characteristics of the work environment are representative of those encountered while performing essential job functions. Proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required during tasks.
