Job Summary

As a Diagnostic Imaging Specialist at CHI, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our medical imaging team. Under the direction of a physician, you will perform diagnostic imaging procedures using various equipment, including radiographic, computed axial tomography, magnetic resonance, interventional radiology, mammography, ultrasound, and nuclear medicine.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Assessment and Preparation: Properly assess patients and their abilities to participate in ordered procedures, providing clear explanations of the procedure, including duration, process, and what to expect following completion.
  • Equipment Selection and Maintenance: Select the proper equipment, setting correct technical factors, procedure protocols, and gathering proper supplies prior to performance of the procedure, recognizing all radiation safety standards.
  • Image Quality and Evaluation: Obtain clear and complete history from patients and record that data into patient records to assist in image interpretation and future patient encounters, performing quality assessment of images obtained and evaluating equipment issues.
  • Quality Improvement and Safety: Participate in and have a good understanding of all department, campus, and system quality improvement projects, the ACR accreditation process, Radiation Safety, ALARA, MQSA, and State Regulations, reporting any patient injuries or concerns, equipment or supply failures, or malfunctions.
  • Education and Training: Provide patient education as appropriate, recognizing essential critical thinking skills needed for successful completion of procedures.
Requirements
  • Education: Currently enrolled in, or graduate of, a Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Radiology Technology program, or graduate of a post-secondary allied health profession program, with on-the-job training with a registered sonographer.
  • Licensure and Certifications: BLS required upon hire, ARDMS board certification within 6 months of hire, and a valid Medical Radiography or General Radiology Technologist Permit to Practice license in Nebraska or Iowa, depending on work state.
  • Skills and Abilities: Demonstrated ability to set and maintain multiple priorities in an environment with shifting priorities, while providing accurate deliverables in a timely fashion, strong interpersonal, verbal, and writing skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
