Position Overview:

The Premium Accountant role at Primma, LLC is designed for individuals who possess strong technical and analytical capabilities, playing a crucial role in the financial reporting process.

This department is dedicated to safeguarding company assets, ensuring timely and precise external reporting, and delivering financial analysis on trends and significant issues. The aim is to collaborate with business units, utilizing analytical tools to empower leadership in making informed, accurate, and timely decisions that drive profitable growth.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough balance sheet reconciliations, including reviews of accounts and sub-ledgers related to premiums, commissions, and accounts receivable.
  • Ensure that all account reviews are comprehensive, accurate, and substantiated by appropriate documentation in line with statutory accounting standards and internal control protocols.
  • Support monthly and quarterly financial reporting processes, providing insightful analysis of financial statements across all company entities.
  • Play a significant role in preparing quarterly and annual financial statements, including all necessary disclosures, supporting schedules, and internal communication materials.
  • Analyze month-end closing activities to identify discrepancies, coding errors, and other issues that require investigation or escalation to management, including the preparation, review, upload, and posting of journal entries.
  • Participate actively in audit preparations and the development of processes, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance with relevant statutory accounting principles and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with the IT department to enhance and automate processes where feasible.
  • Engage with various business areas on special projects and assignments to support the company’s growth objectives.

Qualifications:

Candidates should possess a Bachelor's Degree in accounting or a related discipline. A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation and/or an MBA is preferred. A minimum of three years of experience in statutory accounting is required, along with at least one year of experience in a Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance company or an accounting firm serving insurance clients.

Experience with general ledger management, journal entry preparation, and monthly and annual closing processes is essential. Candidates must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, alongside strong time management abilities. Analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills are crucial for success in this role.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and OneNote, is required. Familiarity with Sage Intacct or similar accounting software is advantageous.

This position requires a commitment to working onsite in the designated office location.


Compensation:

The compensation for this role will be determined based on experience and other legally permissible factors.
