Position Overview:

The Financial Reporting Manager will be responsible for overseeing the financial reporting processes and statutory accounting practices. This role involves collaboration with senior leadership to ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee the preparation and timely submission of all statutory financial reports, including NAIC Quarterly and Annual Statements.
  2. Conduct thorough evaluations and reconciliations of balance sheets and income statements to ensure accuracy and compliance with statutory accounting regulations.
  3. Analyze month-end close activities for discrepancies and coding errors, addressing issues as necessary.
  4. Engage with external auditors during annual financial audits and facilitate communication between departments.
  5. Assist in the preparation and filing of statutory statements and supporting schedules, ensuring all regulatory requirements are met.
  6. Maintain adherence to accounting principles and standards relevant to financial transactions.
  7. Perform internal analyses and reviews of financial reporting workpapers used for quarterly and annual statements.
  8. Support the application of appropriate accounting treatments for operational transactions.
  9. Ensure compliance with insurance industry regulations and enhance internal control systems.
  10. Manage significant insurance accounts, including premiums, expenses, losses, and reserves.
  11. Prepare regulatory filings and ensure all deadlines are met.
  12. Contribute to the training and development of the finance team in core accounting functions.
  13. Provide technical financial guidance to the finance organization.
  14. Foster a collaborative and high-performance team environment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting from an accredited institution.
  • CPA or MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in statutory accounting principles.
  • Proven track record in managing annual statement preparations for insurance or reinsurance companies.
  • Familiarity with accounting software such as Clearwater or Sage Intacct is advantageous.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, with a focus on data management.
  • Strong experience with general ledger and journal entry processes.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.

Compensation: The actual compensation for this position will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $120,000 - $130,000 per year
