Position Overview

Typical Responsibilities

The Engineering & Public Works, Utilities Division is seeking an experienced candidate for the role of Utilities Field Operations Supervisor. This position will oversee field operation personnel responsible for water metering, distribution, and wastewater collections.

Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to water and wastewater industries.
  • Providing briefings and guidance to management regarding departmental and city-related issues.
  • Leading and supervising senior operators and meter technicians, discussing performance outcomes, and conducting inspections for quality assurance.
  • Overseeing site and employee safety, personnel selection, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions.
  • Managing significant capital infrastructure repairs and replacements with a focus on financial oversight and system planning.
  • Identifying needs and initiating the procurement of materials, supplies, and equipment for operational efficiency.
  • Collaborating on Capital Improvement plans that address infrastructure requirements and support a data-driven workforce.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.

Experience: A minimum of three (3) years in a lead role as a utilities operator, in the maintenance and construction of water or wastewater systems, or in utilities engineering assistance, or a combination of these experiences.

Certifications: Must obtain training and certification in CPR, First Aid, Confined Space and Rescue, Traffic Control Flagging, Forklift Operation, and Respirator Fit Testing within six (6) months of appointment.

Licenses: A valid Driver's license is required at the time of appointment and for continued employment.
