Position Overview:

Are you looking to join a dedicated team in the field of blood donation? This role involves overseeing the screening and phlebotomy processes for blood donors, which includes monitoring vital signs, gathering health history, and executing blood collection.

Training:

No prior experience is necessary as we provide comprehensive paid on-the-job training.

Position Title: Juneau Center Operations Leader

Department: Collections

Reports To: Director of Collections and Recruitment

Supervisory Responsibilities: All Juneau Staff

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee and coordinate daily operational functions related to blood collection and product processing at the Juneau Center.
  2. Lead the team to achieve and surpass performance targets.
  3. Collaborate with management on planning, program development, and technical decision-making relevant to blood bank operations.
  4. Ensure adherence to performance standards and objectives.

Essential Duties:

  1. Develop a customer-focused team that prioritizes donor recruitment and collection goals while ensuring a safe and pleasant experience for donors.
  2. Address customer complaints promptly, utilizing support departments as necessary.
  3. Manage daily workflows and maintain effective communication with the Director of Collections & Recruitment.
  4. Assist with staffing, supply, and equipment needs as required.
  5. Facilitate staff training and competency evaluations in collaboration with the Training and Development Manager.
  6. Mentor staff, communicate performance expectations, and conduct evaluations.
  7. Supervise all technical activities related to blood center operations, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  8. Participate in the hiring, training, and evaluation of personnel.
  9. Oversee inventory management and ensure the center operates efficiently.
  10. Enforce compliance with cGMP principles, AABB Standards, OSHA guidelines, and BBA SOPs.
  11. Promote positive community relations as a representative of the organization.
  12. Maintain cleanliness and quality standards within the facility.
  13. Ensure effective communication with various team members and departments.
  14. Conduct regular quality control checks and maintain equipment standards.
  15. Lead by example, demonstrating essential behaviors and adherence to policies.
  16. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Customer Interaction:

Deliver exceptional service to both internal and external customers, prioritizing their needs in all interactions.

Qualifications:

To succeed in this role, candidates must possess:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Knowledge of safety and quality assurance procedures.

Education:

A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

Experience:

Competency in donor collections is essential, along with basic computer skills.

Certificates and Licenses:

Minimum: Valid Driver's License; Preferred: CPR and First Aid certifications.

Work Environment:

Candidates must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and be prepared for extended periods of standing, sitting, and walking. There may be potential exposure to blood or other infectious materials, and adherence to OSHA Blood-borne Pathogens Standards is required.
