Overview:
Vaco Boston is seeking a dedicated Revenue Accounting Manager to oversee the accounting operations within a growing manufacturing organization. This role is pivotal in guiding the revenue accounting team, managing daily revenue and accounts receivable functions, conducting month-end closes, and establishing robust internal controls.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess net revenue for inclusion in monthly and annual financial reports.
- Formulate assumptions and scenarios to evaluate net revenue for the annual budget and ongoing forecasting.
- Ensure accurate documentation and review of revenue recognition practices.
- Supervise and evaluate the performance of accounting staff, ensuring adherence to tight monthly deadlines.
- Oversee daily accounting operations, budget preparation, policy implementation, and program outcome monitoring.
- Manage the comprehensive internal control (SOX) program for all revenue-related processes.
- Review standard customer contracts to confirm proper revenue recognition under ASC 606.
- Collaborate with the technical accounting team to identify contracts requiring detailed accounting analysis.
- Support revenue-related disclosures and assist in the preparation and review of revenue footnote schedules for SEC filings.
- Analyze discrepancies between budgeted and actual data, providing insightful reports.
- Work alongside various managers and directors to ensure precise reporting of departmental expenses.
- Assist in the annual budget preparation for affiliated entities.
- Engage with auditors to facilitate a smooth and timely year-end audit process for all entities.
- Train, supervise, and assess professional and support staff.
- Manage additional projects as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting is mandatory.
- CPA certification is advantageous but not essential.
- A Master's degree is beneficial but not required.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting experience, including a solid understanding of accounting principles.
- Proficient in advanced Excel functionalities.
- Familiarity with SEC reporting and ASC 606 disclosure requirements.
