We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced criminal defense attorney to join our team at the Snohomish County Public Defender Association.

About the Role

This is a full-time position that requires a strong background in criminal defense law, with a focus on representing clients accused of Class A offenses and sex offenses. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in motions practice and trial work, as well as the ability to work with diverse clients and communities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality legal representation to assigned clients at all stages of legal proceedings.
  • Conduct thorough investigations, including regular communication with investigators and the preparation of necessary motions, subpoenas, and discovery methods.
  • Develop and implement effective defense strategies, including the preparation of written and verbal arguments.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and other stakeholders to ensure the best possible outcomes for clients.
  • Stay up-to-date with current practices and developments in the law, attending continuing legal education seminars as required.
Requirements
  • Licensed attorney in good standing with the Washington State Bar Association.
  • Experience in criminal defense law, with a focus on Class A offenses and sex offenses.
  • Strong background in motions practice and trial work.
  • Ability to work with diverse clients and communities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Benefits

We offer a competitive compensation package, including a salary range of $115,426.92 to $147,316.80, depending on experience. We also provide a 10.39% retirement contribution, 100% medical and dental insurance, short-term/long-term disability benefits, life insurance, 21 days of PTO per year, 11 days of holiday pay, and continuing education funds.
