As the Engineering Test Manager, you will be responsible for supervising and directing all testing initiatives assigned to the Test Laboratory, with a primary emphasis on the qualification testing of aircraft water and waste vacuum systems. This position demands an experienced leader capable of guiding and nurturing a team of Test Engineers and Technicians while guaranteeing that all testing operations comply with rigorous aerospace standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership in Projects: Spearhead qualification testing programs, including endurance cycles, vibration assessments, thermal cycling, pressure proofing, and freeze testing. Manage project timelines, matrices, budgets, and performance dashboards.
- Documentation Expertise: Draft, review, and authorize test plans, procedures, and reports. Design and document test fixtures as needed to support testing protocols.
- Process Improvement: Formulate and document Test Lab procedures. Contribute to resource planning to ensure the availability of essential tools, equipment, and fixtures for testing requirements.
- Team Leadership: Provide managerial oversight and guidance to a team of Test Engineers and Technicians. Assist and direct Test Engineers in executing tests effectively and efficiently.
- Talent Development: Cultivate skills within the team to ensure expertise in various development and qualification tests. Promote a culture of continuous learning and enhancement.
- Safety and Compliance: Ensure compliance with company safety protocols and aerospace industry regulations throughout all testing processes.
- A degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) is typically required, along with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field with at least 5 years of experience, or 12 years of relevant experience in the absence of a degree.
- Authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship is mandatory.
- Experience in engineering qualification testing, particularly with water and vacuum systems.
- Prior experience in the aerospace industry is advantageous.
- Familiarity with LabVIEW and experience in designing and fabricating test fixtures.
- Experience with project management tools such as JIRA.
- Knowledge of environmental qualification testing standards, specifically RTCA/DO-160.
