Job Overview

The Electrochemical Research Intern will engage in a laboratory setting with Eden GeoPower Inc.'s diverse R&D team to explore electrical phenomena pertinent to in-situ aqueous geological environments. These explorations under varying ionic and pH conditions will contribute to advancements in the geothermal, mining, geological hydrogen, and carbon dioxide sequestration sectors. This position necessitates a foundational understanding of electrochemical experimental methodologies and analytical techniques; experience in experimental design and apparatus development; and a mindset driven by curiosity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in laboratory studies focusing on electrochemical processes in both solution and fractured media;
  • Collaborate with geochemistry and electrical engineering research teams to enhance the design of electrical stimulation tools;
  • Identify electrochemical reaction pathways through electrolysis utilizing AC, DC, and pulsed power stimulation;
  • Assist in the conceptualization of down-hole tools;
  • Collect and analyze experimental and geochemical samples;
  • Develop and implement sequential laboratory experimental plans;
  • Conduct literature reviews to support innovative experimental designs;
  • Ensure laboratory equipment is operational, calibrated, and suitable for intended purposes;
  • Prepare and deliver project updates, technical presentations, and reports for team members, clients, and academic collaborators;

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a B.S. in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related discipline with 2 years of experience in electrolysis, or
  • Pursuing an M.S./Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related discipline with 2 years of experience in electrochemistry;
  • Previous laboratory experience;
  • Experience in experimental design and planning;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of making technical recommendations with limited information;
  • Proven ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams;
  • Experience in geochemistry and geomechanics is advantageous;
  • Familiarity with IC, GC, and ICP instruments is a plus;
  • Experience with flow, heat, and electrical measurements is beneficial;
  • Proficiency in programming with MATLAB and LabView is a bonus;
  • Must be eligible to work in the US without immediate sponsorship.
