Job Summary

As a key member of the SMS Holdings team, the Facilities Operations Manager will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our commercial, retail, and institutional buildings. This role requires a strong background in maintenance and facilities management, with a focus on supervising a team of maintenance technicians and conducting regular inspections of equipment and facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise Maintenance Technicians: Oversee the work of maintenance technicians, ensuring that tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Conduct Regular Inspections: Perform regular inspections of equipment, including sprinkler systems, HVAC units, plumbing equipment, and vehicles, to identify potential issues and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Perform Maintenance Tasks: Conduct routine maintenance tasks, such as operating hand tools, repairing facility and equipment problems, and performing carpentry and plumbing tasks as needed.
  • Train Maintenance Technicians: Provide training and guidance to maintenance technicians to ensure they have the necessary skills to perform their duties effectively.
  • Ensure Safety Compliance: Ensure that all maintenance tasks are performed in accordance with safety rules and regulations, and that maintenance technicians are aware of and comply with these regulations.
Work Environment

The Facilities Operations Manager will work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent exposure to high, precarious places and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Physical Demands

The Facilities Operations Manager will be required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Requirements
  • Education/Experience: Prior experience in maintenance activities is preferred.
  • Language Ability: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Math Ability: Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.
  • Computer Skills: Basic computer skills are desired but not required.
