Financial Associate Job Description

Harvard University is seeking a highly skilled Financial Associate to join the Department of Biomedical Informatics. As a key member of the team, you will provide administrative and financial support to the department, ensuring the smooth operation of accounts payable and receivable for a portfolio of HMS research core facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process and submit Purchase Orders or Payment Request requisitions
  • Conduct research on and clear up old POs and requisitions
  • Investigate and resolve invoices that are on hold
  • Assist with setting up new vendors
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Finance
Accounts Receivable:
  • Work with HMS service center administrators to generate monthly invoices and related accounting for internal and external customers
  • Ensure any rejected invoices are reviewed and corrected in a timely fashion
  • Track revenue
Financial Management:
  • Reconcile monthly financials for all the service center accounts and non-sponsor accounts
  • Review discrepancies with Cores Administrators and the Director of Finance

Requirements:

  • 3 or more years of administrative and/or related financial experience
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office applications such as Excel and Word
  • Ability to pay attention to detail, strong analytical and organizational skills, ability to multi-task, and excellent customer service skills
