Associate Director, Financial, Tax, and Regulatory Reporting

Join the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Investment Management Company (MITIMCo) as an Associate Director, Financial, Tax, and Regulatory Reporting. This role is part of the Operations Team and is responsible for the financial reporting of investments in MIT's annual treasurer's report and ERISA plans. The successful candidate will also be responsible for issuing financial statements for MIT's special purpose investing entities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare financial reports for MIT's investment entities, including the annual treasurer's report and ERISA plans.
  • Issue financial statements for MIT's special purpose investing entities.
  • Work with the Office of Vice President for Finance to prepare tax returns for MIT's investment entities.
  • Manage MIT's regulatory risk and filings for various domestic and international jurisdictions.
  • Act as a key contributor in resolving tax and other investment structuring concerns.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • At least 10 years of experience in asset management financial and tax accounting, including liquid and illiquid strategies.
  • Expertise in GAAP accounting requirements and tax rules as applied to investment companies and private fund structures.
  • Familiarity with derivative strategies to capture market exposure and related tax issues.
  • Experience overseeing and managing external tax preparers and consultants.
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, managerial, leadership, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA certification.
  • Understanding of real estate operating and development activities.

This is a full-time position that requires working from MITIMCo's Cambridge, MA offices at least two days per week.
