We are expanding our team and currently seeking a Lead Software Engineer in Functional Safety with a minimum of five (5) years of relevant industry experience.

In this pivotal role, you will enhance our automation functional safety and cybersecurity certification services while providing expert guidance, analysis, and auditing support to product development teams. Your Expertise

You possess a technical mindset, attention to detail, and stay informed about the latest trends in software engineering. You are process-oriented and hands-on, serving as an approachable leader who excels in an advisory capacity. Reporting to the Director of Certification, your responsibilities will include:

  • Assessing software development processes at various companies to ensure compliance with IEC 62443 security and IEC 61508/ISO 26262 functional safety standards;
  • Evaluating the security and safety attributes of hardware and software designs;
  • Conducting audits of completed projects to verify adherence to exida's certification criteria;
  • Reviewing security testing performed on products and systems to confirm compliance with established standards;
  • Identifying potential risks and opportunities related to exida's services and products;
  • Presenting at technical conferences and contributing to whitepapers, blogs, webinars, and training materials;
  • Engaging in ongoing training to remain updated on cybersecurity and functional safety standards;
  • Educating others on cybersecurity and functional safety development processes;
  • Preparing presentations, proposals, and budgets to support business development initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline;
  • Over 5 years of experience in software development within a secure development lifecycle;
  • Strong foundation in identifying and mitigating security vulnerabilities;
  • Familiarity with networking and communication protocols;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Authorization to work in the U.S.;
  • Successful completion of a background check.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in penetration testing or related security assessments such as fuzz testing, software composition analysis, static analysis, and vulnerability scanning;
  • Knowledge of IEC 62443 Series Standards or Common Criteria Standards;
  • Experience with software failure modes and effects analysis;
  • Understanding of Functional Safety Concepts;
  • Familiarity with IEC 61508, ISO 26262, or other functional safety standards;
  • Experience in hardware development;
  • Knowledge of hardware description languages (e.g., Verilog or VHDL);
  • Possession of one or more relevant certifications such as CFSP, CFSE, TUV Functional Safety, CISA, CISSP, GICSP, CACE, CACS, CSSLP, or equivalent;
  • Experience in creating security threat models for products and systems;
  • Understanding of security concepts including identification and authentication, encryption methods, secure boot, and PKI.
