Job Summary
Atrium Health seeks a highly skilled Genetic Counselor II to join our team in the area of human/clinical genetics. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for assisting in the planning, development, and implementation of clinical practice, research, and education initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Assessment and Management
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' medical, psychological, and social needs.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans to address patients' needs.
- Liaison and Communication
- Act as a liaison between healthcare professionals, patients, and families to ensure seamless communication and coordination of care.
- Education and Training
- Design and deliver educational programs for healthcare professionals, genetic counseling students, and the general community.
- Program Development and Implementation
- Develop and implement programs, policies, and procedures to advance the field of human/clinical genetics.
- Technology and Resource Integration
- Stay up-to-date with new technologies, theories, and community resources to inform practice and education initiatives.
Requirements
- Education
- Master's degree in Genetic Counseling or a related field.
- Experience
- At least two years of experience as a Genetic Counselor.
- Certifications
- Board Certification as a Genetic Counselor by the American Board of Genetic Counseling.
Physical Requirements
This role requires the ability to walk, stand, sit, lift, teach, bend, push, and pull. The individual must be able to lift and support the weight of 50 pounds and be exposed to blood and other potentially infectious materials. Additionally, the individual must have intact senses of sight, hearing, speech, touch, and finger dexterity.
