SCOPE OF WORK: To perform responsible, professional work as Director of Athletics, Intramural, and Recreation Programs at NHTI, Concord’s Community College. This position reports to the President.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Provides leadership, supervision, planning, development, organization, promotion, and evaluation of comprehensive, student-centered intercollegiate, and recreational athletic programs. Reviews and recommends the addition or elimination of intercollegiate or recreational programs, as deemed appropriate.
- Hires, supervises, trains, and evaluates the athletic department and Wellness Center staff, coaches, and student staff.
- Manages the operations of the Wellness Center and prepares and maintains budgets of the Wellness Center and athletic programs. Approves and oversees the purchase and payments of supplies and equipment and maintains accurate inventory of all team and individual uniforms and equipment.
- Oversees the scheduling of all intercollegiate and recreational events, including team travel.
- Supervises the scheduling of all NHTI indoor and outdoor athletic facilities and works closely with the Facilities Department on the maintenance of all athletic facilities and athletic-related vehicles.
- Ensures that athletic and recreational records are properly maintained.
- Plans and directs fundraising opportunities to enhance the athletic, intramural, and recreational programs and facilities including sponsorships and in-kind contributions.
- Performs appropriate community outreach to solicit community partnerships, facility rental revenue, and programmatic support.
- Monitors, evaluates, and reports the academic performance of student-athletes in courses and programs following each semester.
- Complies with all League, USCAA, and NCAA rules and regulations, and completes reports as required and Provides Leadership and management for athletic and recreation sports staff.
- Represents NHTI at athletic conference meetings.
- Provides leadership for student-athlete academic success programs, and coordinates the athletic eligibility process of record keeping, certification, and awards recognition.
- Works closely with the Public Information Office to promote and market the athletic programs and events to both internal and external constituencies.
- Works with the Student Affairs Department in the planning and implementation of programs and activities. Advises an appropriate club or organization.
- Assists other college officials in resolving faculty and student-athlete problems related to athletic department activities.
- Works collaboratively with colleagues in Enrollment Management & Student Success with regards to student-athlete recruitment and retention. Works closely with the Admissions Counselors and high school guidance counselors to ensure that potential student-athletes and their families have all of the tools that they need to complete the NHTI application process.
- Performs administrative duties associated with maintaining a safe work environment, training employees, communicating job expectations; monitoring and appraising job performance; and managing employee time and attendance in accordance with CCSNH and College policies and procedures, the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement, and state and federal regulations.
- Complies with all college, system, state and federal rules and regulations including those associated with Title IX, providing (or securing) relevant education and training for all staff and student-athletes as appropriate, and fulfilling reporting requirements as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor’s degree with major of study in higher education, athletics, recreational services, physical education, business or a related field. Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.
Experience: 5 years' related experience, including supervisory experience. Certifications or completed training in CPR, first aid, AED, etc.
License/Certification: Valid New Hampshire driver's license.
RECOMMENDED WORK TRAITS: Considerable knowledge of counseling principles and techniques. Considerable knowledge of learning, behavior, and emotional patterns of young adults. Knowledge of personality, achievement, prognostic, and placement tests and the techniques involved in their use and interpretation. Knowledge of statistical analysis techniques. Ability to maintain rapport with students, faculty and staff. Ability to prepare reports. Ability to instruct students, faculty and staff concerning counseling techniques, leadership roles, and human relations. Must be willing to maintain appearance appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities as determined by the College appointing authority.
