Position Overview

The Senior Financial Management Analyst plays a crucial role in guiding financial initiatives and ensuring compliance with established accounting standards. This position involves interpreting complex financial regulations and applying them to various financial statements and audit reports.

Work Environment

This role offers a hybrid work model, providing flexibility between remote and in-office work in accordance with organizational policies.

Qualifications

Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related discipline is required.

Experience: Candidates should possess at least eight (8) years of relevant experience in financial information management, with a minimum of six (6) years utilizing automated accounting systems in either governmental or commercial settings. Proficiency in financial reporting and analysis is essential, along with familiarity with US GAAP as it pertains to governmental entities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expertise in financial software such as PeopleSoft Financials, Oracle, and Cognos.
  • Experience in preparing Comprehensive Annual Financial Reports (CAFR).
  • Certification in continuous improvement methodologies, such as Six Sigma or Lean Six Sigma, along with project management training.

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Financial Management Analyst is responsible for:

  • Ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with US GAAP on a periodic basis.
  • Collaborating with external auditors to prepare the annual CAFR and related disclosures.
  • Overseeing the development and implementation of financial reports, including budget variances and interim financial statements.
  • Maintaining relationships with senior management and external agencies to facilitate financial operations.
  • Providing guidance and support in financial analysis and performance metrics development.
  • Contributing to the preparation of multi-year business plans and monitoring their implementation.
