Position Overview:
The incumbent functions as a Senior Medical Support Specialist within the Radiology/Nuclear Medicine Service. This role involves working collaboratively within an interdisciplinary coordinated care delivery framework.

Key Responsibilities:
The Senior Medical Support Specialist plays a vital role in managing and prioritizing the scheduling of imaging studies. Responsibilities include:
  • Facilitating communication among patients, radiologists, technologists, and referring service teams.
  • Handling incoming calls, welcoming patients, and directing messages to the appropriate personnel.
  • Managing the scheduling, rescheduling, and cancellation of patient appointments while adhering to established national guidelines.
  • Updating patient demographics and insurance details during check-ins.
  • Coordinating both emergency and non-emergency transfers to other facilities, determining appointment types based on patient eligibility.
  • Monitoring clinic appointment availability to ensure optimal utilization of resources.
  • Maintaining effective communication with patients and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Processing secure patient messages and collaborating with care teams as necessary.
  • Participating in team meetings to strategize and address patient care needs.
  • Setting priorities and adjusting workflows to meet team and patient requirements.
  • Identifying incomplete encounters and communicating findings to healthcare providers.
  • Entering relevant information into electronic records and ensuring readiness for patient visits.
  • Evaluating patient information to determine the necessity for immediate appointments.
Work Schedule:
Standard hours are Monday through Friday, with no telework options available.

Qualifications:
Applicants must be U.S. citizens and proficient in both written and spoken English. Experience in clerical, customer service, or administrative roles is essential, with a minimum of six months required. Educational qualifications may also be considered.

Physical Requirements:
This position may require physical exertion, including standing, bending, and lifting moderately heavy items. The work environment is within a medical facility setting, necessitating adherence to safety protocols.
