The Hotel Operations Director is a key leadership position responsible for driving hotel profitability through revenue generation, cost control, guest satisfaction, and employee development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Revenue Growth: Conduct daily meetings with the Director of Sales to focus on prospecting and existing account calls, driving hotel revenue and profitability.
  • Hotel Sales Efforts: Play a pivotal role in hotel sales, including calling on top ten accounts, meeting clients, hosting luncheons and receptions, and meeting with on-site contacts.
  • Departmental Oversight: Tour operating departments daily, making adjustments as needed via department heads, ensuring seamless hotel operations.
  • Staff Development: Conduct weekly staff meetings, including weekly training sessions presented by managers and self, to develop and motivate hotel staff.
  • Financial Management: Meet all financial review dates and corporate directed programs in a timely fashion, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Managerial Development: Hold a monthly financial review with all department managers, M.I.D.'s, and available supervisors, to develop and mentor hotel managers.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure that all department heads maintain budgeted productivity levels and Highgate Hotel standard checkbook accounting procedures, adhering to all company policies and procedures.
  • Training and Development: Develop managers for future advancement through competency training and corporate sponsored training programs, ensuring a pipeline of skilled hotel managers.
  • Guest Satisfaction: Ensure that all employees are at all times attentive, friendly, courteous, and efficient in their interactions with guests, maintaining high guest satisfaction levels.
  • Forecasting and Budgeting: Forecast monthly the hotel's financial position, by estimating revenues and line-by-line expenses, to ensure accurate budgeting and forecasting.
  • Recruitment and Hiring: Prepare and conduct all management interviews and follow hiring procedures according to Highgate Hotel S.O.P.'s, ensuring the best candidates are hired for hotel management positions.
  • Performance Management: Perform all Executive Committee members performance appraisals according to Highgate Hotel S.O.P.'s, to ensure accurate and timely performance evaluations.
  • Employee Relations: Motivate, coach, counsel, and discipline all management personnel according to Highgate Hotel S.O.P.'s, maintaining a positive and productive work environment.
Requirements:
  • Experience: At least 6 years progressive experience in a hotel or a related field, with a proven track record of success in hotel operations.
  • Leadership: Experience managing multiple properties, with a strong background in leadership and management.
  • Physical Demands: Light work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
  • Communication: Must have valid driver's license for the applicable state, and be able to effectively communicate both verbally and written, with all level of employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner.
  • Problem-Solving: Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying concerns raised by employees and guests, and be able to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.
  • Teamwork: Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner, and be able to maintain regular attendance in compliance with Highgate Hotel Standards.
  • Confidentiality: Maintain confidentiality of information, and be able to understand and evaluate complex information, data, etc. from various sources to meet appropriate objectives.
