Job Summary

The BIM/CAD Coordinator plays a crucial role in the successful execution of assigned projects from start to finish. This position serves as the primary point of contact for BIM/CAD inquiries and is responsible for preparing and distributing the BIM/CAD Project Execution Plan, initiating BIM/CAD setup activities, and overseeing the day-to-day activities of project technicians.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engineering Standards: Communicate and set appropriate design and graphic standards, review project requirements, and determine the correct format and contents of required deliverables.
  • Quality / Continuous Improvement: Promote quality within the project/group/section, review design inputs to ensure consistency, and assist in ensuring deliverables comply with specific codes and standards.
  • Engineering Production: Apply basic engineering principles and established design practices in developing complex design concepts and deliverables, apply judgment and make decisions regarding deliverables and input interpretation.
  • Project Coordination: Coordinate with other design group personnel to review and exchange project information necessary for design development, communicate project design requirements, progress, and schedules.
  • Client Focus: Assist in identifying key client interests and drivers, communicate client interests and drivers to project team members, and develop approaches to accommodate these concerns.
  • Knowledge Sharing, Innovation and Technology: Assist in developing and communicating appropriate design standards and process improvement activities, identify training and development needs for personnel, and participate in training efforts.
  • People Management: Assist with performance management process, recognition, and corrective actions, participate in career planning and learning and development, and supervise engineering technicians.
  • Resource Management: Monitor staffing levels and available skill sets for projects, identify resource application needs and process requirements.
  • Administrative: Review timesheets, expense reports, and assist in communicating the continual development of new hire recruitment, policy, and procedure.
Management Responsibilities

The BIM/CAD Coordinator is responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of project technicians, overseeing the preparation and distribution of the BIM/CAD Project Execution Plan, and initiating BIM/CAD setup activities.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate Degree in Drafting or an Engineering Design Related Technology preferred.
  • Bachelor Degree in an Engineering Design Related Technology preferred.
  • Typically a minimum of 11 years related work experience.

  • Advanced industry knowledge and technology trends.
  • Advanced knowledge of company quality program.
  • Advanced ability to interpret engineering deliverable content as assigned.
  • Advanced knowledge of other disciplines.
  • Intermediate knowledge of construction and constructability practices and principles.
  • Intermediate knowledge of engineering design principles and applicable design guides related to assigned engineering discipline.
  • Basic knowledge of procurement and contract administration.
  • Intermediate knowledge of process, procedures for project controls and estimating.
  • Intermediate knowledge of management techniques and company/division HR programs, policies, procedures, and organization structure.
Minimum Qualifications
