Role Summary: The Senior Patient Services Representative plays a pivotal role in the efficient operation of patient services, ensuring a seamless experience for all patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversees daily operations of the Patient Services team, ensuring all tasks are executed with precision and efficiency. Manages workflow adjustments and schedules for breaks and meal periods.
- Welcomes and assists patients throughout their visit, confirming necessary identification, insurance, and financial details. Utilizes an automated system to gather and input essential information, ensuring all documentation for visits and payments is completed accurately. Maintains appointment schedules for physicians in accordance with established protocols.
- Facilitates communication within the health center and between the center and the patient population. Acts as an interpreter or cultural liaison when necessary.
- Collaborative Care Management: Works alongside the Health Care Team to promote coordinated, patient-centered care. Demonstrates a thorough understanding of the objectives outlined in the patient care management plan. Effectively executes and communicates tasks relevant to the role.
- Upholds patient confidentiality in all interactions.
Qualifications:
- Must possess current status as a Patient Services Representative.
- Demonstrated history of being an active learner and a collaborative team player with established leadership capabilities.
- Fundamental knowledge of third-party payers, acquired through experience or education, is essential.
- Proficient computer skills and strong writing abilities are mandatory. Familiarity with medical terminology is required.
- Excellent telephone communication skills are necessary for continuous interaction throughout the day. Clear speech and effective conversational abilities are crucial for engaging with a diverse patient community.
- Proficiency in English (and a second language, if applicable) is required to accurately interpret and translate medical and social information.
Educational Requirements:
- A High School diploma or equivalent, along with completion of a medical secretary program, third-party billing program, patient services program, or a similar training course is required.
