Role Summary:
We are seeking a Laboratory Animal Care Technician to fulfill essential responsibilities in maintaining the welfare of research animals and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Facility Maintenance:
- Engage in the thorough cleaning and upkeep of animal housing areas.
- Adhere to a structured schedule for rotating and sanitizing animal cages and equipment.
- Utilize appropriate cleaning agents and techniques to ensure a hygienic environment.
- Execute additional cleaning tasks as needed or requested.

Animal Husbandry:
- Provide daily care for research animals, including feeding and monitoring their health.
- Ensure animals receive adequate nutrition, bedding, and enrichment.
- Conduct daily health checks and report any concerns to veterinary staff.
- Assist in administering medications and restraining animals for procedures as necessary.

Environmental Monitoring:
- Regularly assess and adjust environmental conditions in animal facilities.
- Monitor temperature, ventilation, and lighting, reporting any issues to supervisors.

Record Management:
- Maintain accurate logs of animal care activities and environmental conditions.
- Ensure all records are organized and up-to-date, complying with institutional protocols.

Supply Management:
- Monitor and replenish supplies for animal care as needed.
- Communicate any shortages to supervisors promptly.

Regulatory Adherence:
- Support compliance with all relevant regulations regarding laboratory animal care.
- Stay informed about applicable regulatory standards and assist in maintaining necessary documentation.

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent with two years of experience in an animal research setting.
- Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
- AALAS certification at the Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician (ALAT) level is required, or a two-year degree in a related field may substitute.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Valid NYS Driver's License with a clean driving record.
- Previous experience in transporting materials in a laboratory or research environment is advantageous.
