Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Assistant General Manager to lead our operations and drive business growth. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring their departments are fully focused and effective in their role as a key link between our customer, striving to optimize business and material flow within the defined cost standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Management
    • Promote company culture and ensure adherence to policies and procedures
    • Lead, manage, and support staff through goal setting, performance monitoring, communication, and on-the-job training
    • Maintain effective staffing levels and create succession and development plans
  • Strategic Planning
    • Develop and execute an annual strategic plan aligned with company goals and industry benchmarks
    • Collect, measure, and analyze data to continuously improve quality operating systems
  • Operational Excellence
    • Implement new processes and procedures to meet changing business needs
    • Foster effective communication through regular department meetings and an open-door policy
    • Create a fair and people-oriented work environment based on the principles of the Magna Employee Charter
  • Financial Management
    • Manage operational budgets and facilitate key employee committee meetings for continuous improvement
  • Leadership and Innovation
    • Take a leadership role in launching new products
    • Ensure confidentiality of proprietary and HR information
    • May require overtime and travel to achieve objectives
  • Health and Safety
    • Participate in accident/incident investigations and corrective actions
    • Identify and correct unsafe acts or conditions, following health and safety policies
    • Conduct scheduled workplace inspections
  • Compliance and Ethics
    • Act as IATF management representative (if applicable)
    • Adhere to Magna's Code of Conduct and Ethics and compliance policies
Requirements
  • Education
    • Bachelor's degree in business or related field
  • Experience
    • Eight years manufacturing leadership experience; or equivalent, with at least five (5) years in a senior management capacity within the automotive industry
  • Skills
    • Strong communication skills to work with internal and external contacts at all levels within the organization
    • Project and program management skills and proven financial capabilities to maintain quality, cost, and timing of programs
    • Knowledge of safety programs, ISO standards, IATF, and Lean practices
    • Prior involvement with strategic planning, resource allocation, and the coordination of people and resources
    • Strong understanding of equipment reliability and labor efficiencies within a production environment
    • Knowledge of the various functions of an automotive plant such as maintenance, quality, production control, safety, program management, operations, and materials
