Role Summary:
The Project Manager is responsible for leading project teams to ensure the successful execution of construction projects from the initial hand-off through to final completion and close-out. This role encompasses comprehensive project planning, scheduling, resource management, financial oversight, and ensuring adherence to quality standards and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Initiate project start-up activities two weeks prior to project commencement and conduct close-out meetings within 45 days post-completion. Document and share detailed meeting minutes, including lessons learned.
- Develop, maintain, and finalize precise project budgets that monitor financial performance, ensuring weekly updates.
- Oversee the timely processing of project accounts receivable and payable, in collaboration with the corporate financial team.
- Ensure profitability targets are met by coordinating closely with field operations, with daily updates to the Field Production Report.
- Manage the prime contract and any change orders, ensuring that additional work is authorized in writing before proceeding.
Essential Duties:
- Ensure project procurement aligns with schedules to guarantee material and subcontractor availability.
- Develop and communicate the project schedule to field operations and subcontractors, resolving any scheduling conflicts.
- Complete monthly Job Progress Reports and review daily logs for accuracy, addressing any discrepancies with project teams.
- Collaborate with the General Superintendent and Equipment Director to manage equipment usage within budget.
- Identify project issues and contribute to weekly coordination meetings to facilitate resolution.
- Report project risks to the Regional Director and review plans with field operations to identify potential challenges.
- Mentor and develop Project Engineers and Assistant Project Managers to enhance their skills and ensure effective project management.
- Oversee project documentation processes, including drawings, specifications, and requests for information.
- Ensure compliance with safety requirements and secure necessary permits and insurance prior to project initiation.
- Promote the company's commitment to integrity and ethical standards across the team.
- Perform additional relevant tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred, or equivalent experience.
- A minimum of five years of experience in construction management.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive, results-oriented mindset.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to adapt and work effectively with diverse individuals.
Travel Requirements:
This position requires travel to various job sites, with compensation provided as applicable.
Work Environment:
Project Managers will work in diverse environments, including office and field settings, with exposure to varying temperatures, noise levels, and other conditions.
