Director of Engineering Job Description

Oberto Snacks Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Director of Engineering to lead the strategy and execution of short-term and long-term capital plans, engineering and maintenance projects, and environmental compliance for our Kent, Washington manufacturing facility.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement engineering strategic plans to support the overall business objectives of Oberto Snacks.
  • Provide leadership, input, and direction to understand and improve manufacturing processes aligned with company strategic goals.
  • Use lean manufacturing engineering principles to design and layout production lines, work areas, manufacturing processes, and production equipment.
  • Establish a culture of continuous improvement and best practice sharing that results in the most effective use of resources, cost reduction, and quality improvement.
  • Accountable for selection of primary process technologies and equipment requirements to meet current and forecasted business production, operating cost, and quality needs.
  • Establish and document manufacturing processes in support of new products and design changes.
  • Work with R&D, Manufacturing, Marketing, and Sales to ensure a timely transition of projects from development to market launch.
  • Direct and comprehensive management of all engineering, environmental, and maintenance projects.
  • Lead team through coaching, training, development, and technical skill building to align with the long-term manufacturing strategic plan.
  • Identification of best-in-class equipment, processes, facilities, etc.
  • Maintain company Environmental, Social, and Governance reporting.
  • Follow established programs, policies, and practices to produce safe quality foods that meet regulatory and company requirements.
  • Maintain accountability to Oberto Snacks' Food Safety and Quality Principles.
  • Support the development, implementation, maintenance, and ongoing improvement of the SQF 2000 Systems.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Process Engineering preferred.
  • Six Sigma or Lean Certification Preferred.
  • 10-15 years' experience managing plant engineering supporting a fast-paced, growth-oriented manufacturing environment; experience in food manufacturing preferred.
  • Experience with sophisticated packaging equipment in consumer packaged goods industry preferred.
