Job Opportunity:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead our Global Health Programs as a Director. This is a unique opportunity to join a prestigious scientific institution that has a direct impact on policy and make a meaningful contribution to advancing global health programs, public health policies, research agendas, and other realms.

The successful candidate will have a depth of experience in global health, strong executive management skills, and proven experience in stewarding and growing relationships with international, federal, state, and private sponsors. They will also have experience supervising staff and fostering their growth, as well as established networks within the global health community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain an impactful, interdisciplinary portfolio of projects/programs, and raise money to support those projects/programs.
  • Plan, conduct, and direct work on projects and programs, overseeing the management of numerous complex projects and assembling or overseeing roundtables/forums, committees, and/or study panels and their staff.
  • Promote a workplace culture that encourages cross-unit collaboration and teamwork with other HMD boards, and boards in other divisions across the National Academies.
  • Respond to requests for studies/projects, negotiating scope of work and budget, and independently develop high-impact programs/projects and negotiate funding with sponsors.
  • Provide leadership and mentor employees, training and developing employees to successfully perform current responsibilities and encouraging development of staff for future roles.
Requirements:
  • Masters or Ph.D. in a related field or equivalent knowledge.
  • Ten years of related professional experience, five of which were in a supervisory capacity.
  • Demonstrated impact on the advancement of science or policy through the successful completion of National Academies activities or equivalent outside activities and through effective dissemination of these activities.
What We Offer:

The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine offer a competitive salary range of $122,000 - $190,625, as well as a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, life insurance, disability coverage, retirement and savings benefits, leave benefits, transportation subsidies, and education assistance.
