Job Overview

Purpose of the Role:

The Maintenance Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing and coordinating the maintenance operations within the facility. This position is essential for aligning the workforce strategy with the company's goals regarding safety, quality, production, and budgetary constraints in a continuous operation environment. The Maintenance Manager will also contribute to the strategic planning and implementation of maintenance processes, systems, and related initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and execution of plant strategies, ensuring compliance among all team members in a regulated setting.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team on capital projects, including defining project scopes, managing bids, and overseeing project execution while adhering to budgetary guidelines.
  • Manage external contracting work, including the bidding process and obtaining necessary approvals from corporate purchasing and plant management.
  • Oversee the inventory of maintenance parts and supplies, ensuring effective purchasing and addressing any shortages.
  • Establish and maintain robust preventative maintenance programs for all facility systems, including utilities, architecture, process instrumentation, and production machinery, utilizing both internal staff and external contractors to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical maintenance challenges.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the Maintenance Supervisor and the maintenance team.
  • Ensure compliance with good manufacturing practices (GMP) and uphold corporate, regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation standards.
  • Promote a safe working environment and ensure adherence to all health and safety regulations at the state and federal levels.
  • Commit to safety, ensuring that all employees leave the workplace in the same condition as they arrived.
  • Demonstrate the core values and ethics of Henis Group through integrity, discretion, and sound judgment.
  • Follow all quality, safety, and GMP policies and procedures, reporting any discrepancies.
  • Participate in mandatory training sessions, including Safety, GMP, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP), and Safe Quality Foods (SQF).
  • Be available to respond to emergencies or unexpected operational needs, including nights, weekends, or holidays.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field (consideration may be given to candidates with relevant experience in a production setting).
  • 8-10 years of experience in maintenance leadership is preferred.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical expertise.
  • Proficient in PLC, logic, and computer control systems.
  • Proven track record in managing large capital projects within a production environment.
  • Experience in a unionized workplace is advantageous.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong computer proficiency.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of boilers, ammonia systems, air compressors, refrigeration systems, and both high and low voltage power systems.
  • Adept at troubleshooting equipment and processes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and planning capabilities.
  • Exceptional decision-making skills.
  • Familiarity with developing capital projects to address production or regulatory challenges.
  • Able to collaborate effectively with colleagues in a union environment.
  • Fluency in English is required.

Travel Requirements:

5%-15% (1-3 trips per year)
