San Rafael, California, United States Guidepost Montessori Full time
Join Our Team as a Lead Early Childhood Educator at Guidepost Montessori

We are excited to offer a chance to inspire and nurture the growth of children aged 3 to 6 years, fostering their independence, self-esteem, and a lifelong passion for learning.

Compensation: Starting at $56,000+

Your Responsibilities

As a dedicated Lead Teacher (Guide), you will play a crucial role in guiding a diverse group of preschool-aged children within a Montessori framework.

In this enriching environment, Lead Teachers create a space that encourages autonomy and engages children's curiosity. You will provide tailored support to each child, facilitating individual and small group interactions, demonstrating the use of materials, and offering precise language to help them articulate their experiences.

Thanks to the thoughtfully arranged environment and personalized attention, children in a Montessori setting enjoy the freedom to explore and engage with materials of their choosing, allowing them to develop essential skills, confidence, and a strong belief in their capabilities.

We seek a Lead Teacher who is committed to helping every child achieve their fullest potential.

Key Responsibilities of Children's House Lead Teachers:
  • Closely observe each child to understand and address their physical, intellectual, and emotional needs.
  • Design and maintain a beautiful, organized environment that promotes focus, independence, and profound learning.
  • Encourage self-sufficiency and confidence by empowering children to 'do it all by themselves.'
  • Deliver individualized and small-group lessons to support children's development in practical skills, literacy, mathematics, and more.
  • Build personal connections with each child and foster a respectful community.
  • Engage in respectful communication and collaboration with parents to ensure optimal support for every child.
The Montessori Prepared Environment

Every classroom at Guidepost is equipped with a comprehensive selection of high-quality Montessori materials tailored for the Children's House curriculum, along with a budget for guides to personalize their spaces. Each classroom reflects the Montessori principles of beauty and order, designed to empower every child to learn, concentrate, and confidently achieve independence.

Features of a Guidepost Montessori Children's House:
  • Child-sized furniture and ample space for independent or small group work.
  • Practical life materials for activities such as sweeping, table setting, dusting, meal preparation, and more.
  • Curriculum focused on independence in self-care tasks like dressing and feeding.
  • Scientifically designed, hands-on learning materials for foundational knowledge in mathematics, literacy, science, and beyond.
  • Accessible materials on low shelves and art displayed at children's eye level.
  • Cozy reading nooks, real plants, and abundant natural light.
  • Natural materials like wood, metal, and glass used for breakable items instead of plastic.
If you are passionate about equipping children with the tools they need to thrive, eager to collaborate with parents on their child's educational journey, and excited to join a supportive community of educators, we invite you to explore this opportunity with Guidepost Montessori.

Ideal Candidate Qualifications:
  • Interest in pursuing certified Montessori training through our Prepared Montessorian Institute (fully-sponsored) or possession of a Montessori diploma for ages 3-6.
  • Experience working with children aged 3-6 in group settings such as daycare, aftercare, or preschool.
  • Familiarity with child-centered educational philosophies like Reggio Emilia or Montessori, or a willingness to learn.
  • Completion of 12 Early Childhood Education or Child Development Units.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development.
  • Previous experience in customer service, childcare, babysitting, or education is preferred.
What We Offer:
  • The chance to contribute to a high-quality Montessori program tailored to the unique needs of each child.
  • Sponsored Montessori diploma and ongoing professional development through the Prepared Montessorian Institute.
  • 75% tuition discount for two children at any school in our network.
  • A supportive network of peers and mentors who value your contributions and share best practices.
  • Opportunities for career advancement and promotion.
  • Competitive salary and benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Paid time off and holidays.
