Fleet Management Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Fleet Management Specialist to join our team at Waste Management. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for managing the full fleet of primary and secondary equipment, ensuring effective maintenance and cost control, and promoting high training and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the full fleet of primary and secondary equipment, including cost control, employee development, and high training and safety standards.
- Directly supervise a team of maintenance supervisors and technicians to ensure performance and cost focus across the area.
- Review capital equipment requisitions in line with corporate guidelines and objectives.
- Ensure safe and reliable vehicles are available to meet operational requirements.
- Manage effective utilization of vehicle assets.
- Conduct fleet evaluations to ensure maintenance standards are met.
- Ensure maintenance shops are adequately staffed and mechanics are properly trained.
- Ensure vehicle management systems are effectively utilized.
- Comply with and ensure adherence to Waste Management's Mission to Zero standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient operations.
- Meet all financial review dates and corporate directed programs in a timely fashion.
- Assist in budget process as required.
- Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of the maintenance shops through regular inspections and preventive maintenance programs.
- Assist in creating a positive team-oriented environment through employee development and motivation.
- Oversee personnel needs of the department, including selecting, coaching, disciplining, and training employees and evaluating employee performance.
- Provide input into termination, compensation, and promotion decisions.
- Conduct and/or attend periodic driver/safety meetings to maintain favorable working relationships among all employees and promote maximum morale, productivity, and efficiency.
- Motivate, coach, counsel, and discipline managers according to Waste Management's policies and procedures and ensure that maintenance managers are in compliance with the standards in their administration of counseling and disciplinary steps.
- Provide training and presentations as needed in a positive and professional manner.
- Update and submit required reports in a timely manner.
- Bachelor's degree (accredited), or in lieu of degree, High School Diploma or GED (accredited) or High School Equivalency and three (3) years of relevant work experience.
- Three (3) years of relevant work experience as well as experience in a supervisory role (in addition to education requirement).
- Applicable experience may be substituted for education requirements.
- Valid driver's license required.
This role requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
