This role involves managing new product launches and ongoing enhancement initiatives, coordinating training sessions for staff impacted by engineering projects, and assisting in the formulation of project budgets and timelines.

The specialist will monitor and assess processes, focusing on cycle times, scrap rates, and overall efficiency.

Additionally, they may troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems, including programmable logic controllers, numerical controls, power supplies, drives, gauges, and testing apparatus.

A comprehensive understanding of electrical/electronic and mechanical theories, writing specifications, compliance with local and national electrical codes, material properties, and the operational principles of electronic devices is required.

The specialist will plan and develop aspects of research and development proposals, including project objectives, applications of findings, estimated costs, and resource requirements.

They will oversee critical projects, processes, and performance analytics, ensuring thorough documentation systems are in place. Utilizing problem-solving methodologies such as root cause analysis, flowcharts, and fishbone diagrams will be essential.

Researching and proposing design concepts and technologies for new products or enhancements to existing ones will be part of their responsibilities, along with reviewing and evaluating proposals to determine the justification of costs versus benefits, submitting viable proposals for management review.

Collaborating with Manufacturing and Quality teams, the specialist will assess quality and process improvements alongside new product development.

They will document test results and apply statistical quality control techniques, analyze data, and prepare reports to confirm compliance or highlight deviations from established standards.

Setting up and conducting both destructive and non-destructive tests on materials, components, or products to evaluate performance, durability, or material characteristics will also be required.

The specialist will create graphs or charts for data representation, input data into analytical software, revise work instructions as necessary, and maintain laboratory testing records.
