Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Assistant to join our Vision Services team at Kaiser Permanente. As a key member of our clinical support team, you will provide direct support to our ophthalmologists and optometrists, ensuring seamless patient care and efficient operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct objective ophthalmic testing, including visual acuity testing, tonometry, and visual fields testing
  • Assist with provider visits and support department operations with clerical services
  • Measure and record intraocular pressure, neutralize spectacles, and perform other objective ophthalmic testing procedures
  • Administer topical eye medications and perform automated image capture as needed
  • Make and cancel appointments, obtain and prepare medical information for providers, and document relevant medical information
Requirements
  • Must be certified by JCAHPO as an Ophthalmic Assistant and have a minimum of two years of experience in conducting objective ophthalmic testing
  • Must be proficient in ophthalmic procedures and testing, with knowledge of medical and ophthalmological terminology
  • Must successfully complete PARRS II, AutoReg, and be able to work with electronic medical record systems
