Job Summary

As a Senior Sous Chef at Marriott International Inc, you will be accountable for the overall success of daily kitchen operations. You will exhibit culinary talents by personally performing tasks while leading the staff and managing all food-related functions. Your primary goal will be to continually improve guest and employee satisfaction while maintaining the operating budget. You will supervise all kitchen areas to ensure a consistent, high-quality product is produced. Additionally, you will be responsible for guiding and developing staff, including direct reports, to ensure they meet the highest standards of culinary excellence.

Candidate Profile

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced culinary professional to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, with a minimum of 4 years of experience in the culinary, food and beverage, or related professional area. Alternatively, a 2-year degree from an accredited university in Culinary Arts, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or a related major, with 2 years of experience in the culinary, food and beverage, or related professional area, is also acceptable.

Core Work Activities
  • Leading Culinary Team: Utilize interpersonal and communication skills to lead, influence, and encourage others; advocate sound financial/business decision making; demonstrate honesty/integrity; lead by example.
  • Supervising and Managing Employees: Manage all day-to-day operations, understand employee positions well enough to perform duties in employees' absence, and ensure employees understand expectations and parameters.
  • Ensuring Culinary Standards and Responsibilities are Met: Develop, design, or create new applications, ideas, relationships, systems, or products, including artistic contributions; supervise kitchen shift operations and ensure compliance with all Food & Beverage policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Ensuring Exceptional Customer Service: Provide services that are above and beyond for customer satisfaction and retention; manage day-to-day operations, ensure the quality, standards, and meeting the expectations of the customers on a daily basis.
  • Maintaining Culinary Goals: Achieve and exceed goals, including performance goals, budget goals, team goals, etc.

  • Providing Information: Provide information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, email, or in person.
